JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- The U.S. Air Force (Air Force) is now accepting public comments for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS) for Proposed Mortar and Artillery Training (PMART) at Richardson Training Area, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Alaska. The Draft EIS details environmental impacts of modifications to the conditions under which indirect live-fire weapons training can be conducted at JBER, to meet training objectives.
Today, the Air Force published the Notice of Availability of the Draft EIS in the Federal Register, formally beginning a 60-day public comment period. Two public hearings are scheduled for the following locations and dates:

A copy of the Draft EIS will be available for public review and comment for 60 days beginning April 25, 2025 and ending June 24, 2025. This document will be available online at https://JBER-PMART-EIS.com (under “EIS Documents”) and at the following libraries:
