First responders and other Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson personnel will conduct an emergency-response exercise Oct. 19 and 20.

The exercise tests capabilities of security, fire, medical, explosive ordnance disposal, communications, and other JBER personnel.

The base conducts emergency-response exercises to test and improve unit and individual readiness in response to a wide range of scenarios.

People who live and work on or near the installation may notice increased emergency vehicle activity, sirens, loudspeaker announcements, alert notifications and longer wait times at the gates during the exercise.
