MEDIA ADVISORY: JBER’s 3rd Wing change-of-command ceremony July 15

U.S. Air Force Col. Travolis Simmons will turn over command of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson’s 3rd Wing to U.S. Air Force Col. Kevin Jamieson in a change-of-command ceremony July 15 at 10:03 a.m. 

Simmons is heading to Air Combat Command Headquarters, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

Jamieson was previously the Vice Commander of the 57th Wing, located at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

Jamieson was commissioned in 2000 upon graduation from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research. After completing pilot training as a distinguished graduate, he flew the F-15 Eagle in operational fighter assignments with Air Combat Command and Pacific Air Forces. He has served as an instructor pilot, flight evaluator, operations officer, weapons officer and weapons school instructor.

He has flown multiple combat missions and participated in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Noble Eagle, as well as Alaska NORAD Region air sovereignty operations. Jamieson is a command pilot with more than 2,300 flight hours.

Jamieson returns to the Anchorage area where he was stationed at then-Elmendorf Air Force Base from July 2005 to July 2008.
