JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Members of the community without a DoD ID who wish to attend a Memorial Day ceremony at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery, May 30, 2022, will have the opportunity this week to pre-register for access. Pre-ceremonial music begins at 11:30 a.m. and the ceremony starts at noon.
To reduce or eliminate wait times at the Visitor Control Center, visitors can call to pre-register May 25 and 26, from 8 to 11 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m. Pre-registration will allow approved individuals to enter JBER without processing through the Visitor Control Center.
To register, individuals age 16 or older will be required to provide personal information for a criminal background check. Patrons must be U.S. citizens and provide their full name, state ID or driver's license number, and date of birth. Security Forces personnel will run a criminal background check for disqualifying information. During the call, the individual will be informed if they are cleared for or denied access to the installation. Upon successful screening, individuals will be added to a list of authorized patrons at the JBER-Richardson Gate.
You may experience long wait times during the phone call, depending on time of day, but pre-registration will eliminate waiting at the VCC. To pre-register, call (907) 552-6910 between the hours of 8 to 11 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m. on May 25 and 26.
Patrons 16 years of age and older will only show their ID to be compared to the list and will be granted access to the base. Patrons under the age of 16 do not require criminal vetting or a picture ID to gain access to JBER for this event.
This pre-registration is only for access to and from Fort Richardson National Cemetery to participate in the Memorial Day ceremony, May 30. Persons found outside that area may be charged with trespassing.
Patrons who haven’t met the pre-registration deadline can visit the Richardson VCC between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., May 30 for a criminal background check and receive a pass for the Memorial Day event, provided they meet the security requirements.
Media outlets interested in covering the event must RSVP before noon May 29, in order to ensure base access and PA escort to the event.
