Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will host the biannual Arctic Thunder Open House on July 30 and 31, 2022, with the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, headlining the event. The F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team will also perform, along with several civilian air acts.

The Thunderbirds' F-16 Fighting Falcons, which they have flown since 1982, have been one of the top draws to air shows throughout the U.S. and around the world, with their high-speed precision formation flights.

The F-22 Demo Team is also a fan favorite, showcasing the capabilities of JBER's premier fighter aircraft, piloted by Maj. Josh "Cabo" Gunderson, who served at JBER until 2019.

"We're very excited for this year's Arctic Thunder Open House," said Lt. Col. Roderic Rosario, director of this year's event. "We're looking forward to showcasing the capabilities of not only JBER, but the Army and Air Force at large, and inspiring the next generation of service members."

Numerous static displays of a variety of aircraft and vehicles from the Army, Air Force, and other services will be available, with personnel who can tell the public how they work and what they do.

"We are planning for the best Arctic Thunder yet," Rosario said. "This is our chance to thank the Alaska community for their support of JBER, and we can't wait to demonstrate our joint capabilities here."
