JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- First responders and other Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson personnel will conduct an emergency-response exercise Oct. 20 and 21.
The exercise will test the capabilities of security, fire, medical, explosive ordnance disposal, communications, and other JBER personnel.
The base regularly conducts emergency-response exercises to test and improve unit and individual readiness in response to a wide range of scenarios.
People who live and work near the installation may notice increased emergency vehicle activity, sirens, loudspeaker announcements, alert notifications and longer wait times at the gates during the exercise.
