MEDIA ADVISORY: The 3rd Wing celebrates 100th anniversary

The 3rd Wing will begin its 100th anniversary celebration with an opening ceremony Thursday, July 25, at 10 a.m. in Hangar 1 followed by a 5K run along the flight line, static displays, food booths, and more.

In addition to the statics and food, an F-22 demonstration is planned to take place Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the JBER airfield. The three-day celebration is open to all Department of Defense card holders who have access to the joint base.

The 3rd Wing, which has been here since 1991, originated as the Army Surveillance Group at Kelly Field, Texas, on July 1, 1919. The full story, ‘100 years of 3rd Wing service,’ can be found on DVIDS at the following link:
