On Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, President Donald Trump visited Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska.

The president was at the base to meet with and speak to service members after returning from a summit in Hanoi, Vietnam.

During his speech, he highlighted the important role that military forces in Alaska play in our national defense.

“The men and women who serve at JBER share one vital mission: to serve in our country’s last frontier as America’s first line of defense,” said President Trump.

During his speech, he also brought U.S. Army Sgt. Sean Rogers, Bronze Star Medal for Valor recipient, up to the stage to recognize him for his heroic actions during a deployment.
