JBER Fire Fighters and the Alaska Division of Forestry Supress Wildfire

20170505 -- The Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Fire Department and the Alaska Division of Forestry worked together to contain a wildfire in an unpopulated area near Vandenberg Avenue and Arctic Warrior Drive, at 2:40 p.m., today. JBER emergency responders contained the blaze and suppressed it from spreading any further at 4:30 p.m.

There were no casualties or injuries reported, and the State of Alaska Pioneer Peak Interagency Hotshot Crew is currently working on scene to help clean up the remains of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation; more details will be released as soon as they become available.
