3rd OSS tests landing zone capabilities at home, abroad

In early March, the 3rd Operations Support Squadron at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson sent personnel to participate in Exercise Agile Reaper 23-1 under the 3rd Air Expeditionary Wing to test their capabilities in an environment unlike home-station. And for the first time ever in Alaska, on March 23, the 3rd OSS took those same concepts and applied them to a landing zone training scenario to integrate LZOs and cargo aircraft pilots at their home-station airfield.

Agile Combat Employment is one of the most talked-about concepts in the Air Force. The ability to rapidly deploy and establish forward operating locations, manned by multi-capable Airmen, is the way the Air Force is crafting the future of warfare.  The Airmen of the 24th Special Operations Wing, Detachment 1, also known as Deployment Cell or “D-Cell,” have been doing just this for over 60 years.

Firebirds training in southwestern US highlights C-17 capabilities

On the morning of Jan. 8, 2021, 13 U.S. Airmen, all assigned to the 517th Airlift Squadron, boarded a C-17A Globemaster III aircraft and flew from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to March Air Reserve Base, California. Their mission: to train and prepare for global operations in a deployed environment.

Special Tactics operators simulate first-ever extreme cold weather FARP with next generation fighters

For the first time, aircrew with the 27th Special Operations Wing, Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, along with a team of Special Tactics Airmen carried out a simulated FARP for F-22 Raptors assigned to Pacific Air Forces’ 3rd Wing in an extreme cold weather environment during Emerald Warrior at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, January 21-31.

JBER is always Ready

JBER is always ready! This week, Arctic Warriors assigned to JBER executed missions across the full spectrum of agile combat support during the first part of Exercise Polar Force 20-1. JBER is a weapon system, and the Arctic Warriors who put flesh on this weapon system proved they were able to deliver mission assurance and continuity of operations. Always ready!
