JBER’s commitment with international partners enables aircraft recovery
WHITEHORSE, Canada — Six F-22s assigned to the 90th EFS were on their way home to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson from Lask Air Force Base, Poland, where they had supported the NATO Air Shielding mission, when suddenly, one of the Raptors had an engine malfunction, causing it to make an emergency landing at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport, last year.

11th Air Force Commander visits 673d ABW, participates in immersion tour
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. David Nahom participated in a 673d Air Base Wing immersion tour at JBER Sept. 14. The immersion gave Nahom an opportunity to learn firsthand about the role the 673d ABW and JBER play in readiness and defense in the Arctic. He toured facilities, received briefings on innovative projects, met Airmen from various units and recognized outstanding performers.

Alaskan Command hosts Arctic Resolve 2022
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — Alaskan Command invited federal and state emergency response partners to participate in exercise Arctic Resolve 2022 at the combined headquarters of Alaska North American Aerospace Defense Command Region, Alaskan Command, and 11th Air Force on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Aug. 26. The ALCOM-hosted, interagency exercise aimed to create a shared understanding of each organization’s roles and responsibilities through all stages of disaster response and defense support of civil authorities.

Arctic Speaker Series Highlights Partnership
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — Alaskan Command hosted its Arctic Speaker Series, September 16, 2021 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. This month’s speakers included the Norwegian Ambassador to the United States, Anniken Krutnes, the Consul General of Finland, Okko-Pekka Salmimies, and the Embassy of Finland’s Defense Attaché, Colonel Petteri Seppälä. The event focused on the importance of cooperation between Arctic nations, managing resources in an era of climate change and the implications of the Arctic to Homeland Defense.
