JBER Airmen participate in LIMS-EV training

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Airmen of the 673d Logistics Readiness Squadron, 176th Logistics Readiness Squadron and other Alaska Airmen participated in training on the Air Force Logistics Installations and Mission Support-Enterprise View on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, March 22 to 25.

Logistics Airmen took web-based training for the program in the past, but this is the first time LIMS-EV training has occurred on JBER in this capacity, said Capt. Edward Yerage, 673d LRS Material Management Flight commander.

"[LIMS-EV] introduces a new method of data gathering and presentation of metrics for management actions," said Chief Master Sgt. Wink Hinkley, 176th LRS chief. "It allows for key leaders to see metrics at their wing and across the Air Force to compare and make logistical decisions based on what they see"

LIMS-EV pulls data from more than 70 feeds, said Christopher Favreau, Headquarters Air Force A4PA LIMS-EV team lead. The program offers information on location, status, and quantity of supplies and equipment across the Air Force.

"That's part of the program that I find beneficial," he said. "Information that I need as a chief is pushed to me directly when I open my email. All I have to do is click a button, and my aircraft status is right there. It shows me where my aircraft are located, and it shows me the status. One click to where it took me ten clicks before."
LIMS-EV entered service in the early 2000s, and, since its creation, has been evolving with the times to provide a more efficient program, Favreau said.

"A year ago, we had 6,000 users," he said. "As of last Monday, we had [more than] 15,000 users."

"[The purpose of the program is] sharing information and makes sure everybody is working better as team," Yerage said. "I think the LIMS-EV encompasses the one team, one fight mentality. It doesn't matter if you're Reserve, Guard or active. It's the one team, one fight mentality in computer form."
