If you have a recreational vehicle and live in base housing, the vehicle must be stored in an authorized Force Support Squadron storage area or at an off-base facility. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in citations for unauthorized parking.

RVs and trailers may only be parked within the Aurora Military Housing areas from noon on Fridays to noon on Mondays, with adjustments to holiday weekends. This is allowed for loading and un-loading for weekend trips. The vehicle or trailer may not be parked for any period longer than 48 hours without a special permit.

“The housing areas cannot be congested,” said Tech. Sgt. James Partin, 673 Security Forces Squadron operations noncommissioned officer in charge. “There has to be room for emergency personnel vehicles to be able to respond. If RVs and trailers are blocking the streets, it could greatly hinder a response.”

In addition to RVs and trailers, all-terrain vehicles, utility trail vehicles, snow machines, and dirt bikes must be parked and stored in garages while living in AMH.

Though storage facilities on base are gated with camera surveillance, officials strongly advise securing vehicles. If leaving vehicles in storage lots for long periods of time, regularly checking the vehicle is beneficial.

“When leaving vehicles in storage, please make sure you don’t leave valuables in the vehicle,” said Partin. “Secure everything.”

Permits and storage rentals are available through the Outdoor Recreation center at 552-2023. For more information visit www.jberlife.com/fun/outdoor-recreation.
