Acting Secretary of the Air Force visits JBER

The Air Force's highest ranking civilian visited Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Nov. 27 to see JBER's Total Force Alert mission first hand.

Acting Secretary of the Air Force Eric Fanning toured JBER to learn about the various units that contribute to the base's ability to respond at a moment's notice.

Fanning toured the 176th Air Defense Squadron, 176th Wing's rescue squadrons, 3rd Wing's Combat Alert Cell, 673d Security Forces Squadron and 673d Civil Engineer Squadron during his brief visit. Personnel from each unit explained what they do to ensure JBER is ready at all times.

Fanning's visit to JBER concluded a week-long Pacific-focused tour. In addition to JBER, he visited Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii, and Osan and Kunsan Air Bases, Republic of Korea."

Fanning became the 24th Undersecretary of the Air Force in April. He has served as acting Secretary of the Air Force since June.
