The Moose Run Golf Course is getting ready for this year's 'Get Golf Ready' program.

Military members, their families and members from the community can participate in the 'Get Golf Ready' program for their introductory golf lessons by golf professionals through June 9.

"The 'Get Golf Ready' program provides an affordable and rewarding educational experience for those who are interested in learning more golf," said Amy Sexton, Moose Run Golf Course business manager.

'Get Golf Ready' is a nationwide program which has introduced the game to thousands of adults with minimal knowledge of the sport through a five-class instructional program. Participants in the program learn techniques in putting, full swing, half swing, bunker play and the fundamental guidelines of maintenance and use of golf equipment. The program also includes lessons on the rules, etiquette, history and values of golf.

"This program will provide a casual, yet structured setting, using fun skill-enhancement formats to help participants become comfortable on the course and enable them continue to develop their skill as golfers," Sexton said.

If Individuals miss a lesson, they can make it up the following weekend.

Playing a round of golf burns calories and rejuvenates the mind through a moderate aerobic activity - walking. Golfing is also a way to spend time with friends and family, she said.

"We encourage you to bring a friend or family member to get outdoors, soak in some sunshine and get some exercise while learning a game for a lifetime," Sexton said.
