Gilbert pulls a simulated casualty away from his fighting position. Stress-fire exercises involve Soldiers running, crawling, and performing other battle tasks to increase their heart rates and mental stress, before manning a weapon and shooting accurately. The training mimics combat situations, so when troops are in a combat situation, they are already familiar with the mental and physical drain – and can perform well despite the challenges.
