Leadership from the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations, and Environment conduct a comprehensive tour of the Port of Alaska, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson privatized housing, dormitory facilities and strategic infrastructure sites in Anchorage, Alaska, Aug. 27, 2026. The official party, led by the Honorable Michael Borders, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for SAF/IE, met with JBER leadership, key project directors and local Airmen to evaluate ongoing base recapitalization efforts, airfield modernization plans and operational logistics in the Arctic region. The visit provided senior Air Force leaders with firsthand insights into JBER's strategic posture, unique environmental hurdles and infrastructure investment priorities designed to support total force integration across the Indo-Pacific theater.
