JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Following the 673d Air Base Wing 2nd Quarter awards, U.S. Air Force Col. Daniel C. Werner, 673d ABW commander, held his first all-call with base personnel at the Talkeetna Theater on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, July 31.
As the new wing commander, Werner utilized his first address to share about himself, the successes of the base and his goals for the future of the organization.
“Everything that we have up here within the Department of War in Alaska matters,” he said.
Throughout his address, Werner made clear the geographical significance of JBER and its strategic importance in the Pacific theater. Maintaining and improving the base’s power projection capabilities was highlighted as a key component on its overall readiness.
The colonel emphasized that innovation and a constant striving to better oneself will yield greater success in current and future operations. He also acknowledged that the base community is strengthened from its ties to the Anchorage community.
“What we have focused on as a wing is absolutely right about readiness, about having Airmen and Soldiers ready to go into the fight, as well as to take care of this power projection platform here at JBER,” said Werner.
