JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — Registration for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson recreational activities will officially move from iSportsman to a portal called RecAccess beginning Aug. 28.

For a seamless transition to the new registration platform, registered recreators are encouraged to update the email address associated with their iSportsman account by Aug. 17.

Active iSportsman members will receive an email with instructions on how to create a new password and username for RecAccess. The newly created account must be associated with the same email address used in iSportsman.

Some of the features and benefits of RecAccess include mobile phone accessibility for iOS and Android, customer self-service actions, and easy access to closure information.

“RecAccess is easy to use on mobile devices,” said Jessica Weikert, JBER biological scientist. “It shows users’ live locations within recreation areas, and allows users to check out using text messaging.”

With the update geared toward mobile use, all valid 2023 permits will be transferred automatically using the email associated with the original iSportsman account.

The transition is one of the ways JBER seeks to improve the user experience, functionality, and – most of all – public safety with the recreational regulations of the base.

All current 2023 permits will be transferred automatically using the email associated with the original iSportsman account to RecAccess.

Key features on RecAccess will provide near-instant safety and security notifications, include detailed information about various recreational activities, and deliver easy location access via text messaging. Registering recreation in RecAccess may serve as a resource in an emergency for search and rescue personnel.

“We’re excited to provide a smartphone-friendly recreational access system,” said Kylene Lang, JBER environmental conservation chief. “Our goal is to reach more people and provide safer and more enjoyable recreational opportunities at JBER.”
