673d ABW unveils new mission, vision, and priorities

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF RICHARDSON, Alaska --

The 673d Air Base Wing command team released their mission, vision, and priorities today, highlighting the wing’s commitment to support and enable the activities of the installation, its joint units, and its role in homeland defense and national security.

The new mission is: “Protect our Homeland, Project Joint Forces, and Power the Joint Base”

The new vision is: “Agile Arctic Combat Support – Unrivaled Arctic Warfighters, delivering apex power projection through agile combat support.”

The new priorities supporting the mission and vision are: People, Readiness and Partnerships.

“We are very proud to be here serving critical missions as we support the United States National Defense Strategy. As a command team, we wanted our mission, vision, and priorities to communicate what we do here daily,” said Col. David Wilson, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and 673d ABW commander. “JBER is sitting at the crossroads of two combatant commands and at the heart of our national security, so we needed a fresh perspective on what it is that we do here - Protect, Project and Power truly speak to our capabilities and vision of delivering agile arctic combat support.”

Stood up in 2010, the 673d ABW today comprises over 5,500 joint military and civilian personnel, supports and enables America’s Arctic Warriors and their families.

“When we are out on the installation and meeting with service members and families, it’s clear to us that our commitment to people and partnerships are what’s going to lead us to ultimate mission and vision success,” said Chief Master Sgt. Daniel Guzman, 673 ABW Command Chief. “Taking care of our people, their families and nurturing the relationships on and off the installation are where we will prioritize our daily efforts over the coming years. We’re so excited to be here serving this team.”

In addition, the wing provides medical care to over 35,000 joint service members, dependents, Veterans Affairs patients, and retirees throughout Alaska. The 673d ABW maintains $15 billion in infrastructure encompassing 85,000 acres, ensuring JBER remains America’s premier strategic power projection platform.

JBER also hosts the headquarters for the U.S. Alaskan Command, Eleventh Air Force, 11th Airborne Division and the Alaskan North American Aerospace Defense Command Region. There are also three AF total-force wings, an Army Brigade and 55 other major mission partners.
