JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska– The 673d Contracting Squadron and Alaska Procurement Technical Assistance Center hosted the 2nd Annual Department of Defense Alaska-Wide Industry Event on May 25-26, allowing DoD agencies across Alaska the opportunity to engage with small businesses.
This virtual event served as a platform to provide contractors a better understanding on how to conduct business with DoD agencies.
“The event includes education from six different agencies,” said Della Simmons, a small-business professional and team lead for the event. “It added open communication with the small-business industry and transparency with the DoD.”
Six agencies participated in the event: Defense Logistics Agency, 766th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii; Alaska Air National Guard; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; 354th Contracting Squadron from Eielson Air Force Base; and 673rd CONS.
“This event built and strengthened relationships amongst the DoD agencies and our partners in industry,” said 2nd Lt. Brandon Host, a 673d CONS contracting specialist.
Reaching a broad audience of contractors and vendors from Alaska and other states, Industry Day also provided the small-business industry updated changes in DoD regulations, funding impacts and government contracting opportunities.
