The Coast Guard Cutter Mustang escorts the United States Navy Ship Henry J. Kaiser (T-AO 187) into the Port of Seward, Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Coast Guard Cutter Mustang escorts the U.S. Naval ship Henry J. Kaiser (T-AO 187) into the port of Seward in Southcentral Alaska. The Mustang escorted the Kaiser as part of standard procedures for naval vessel visits to Alaska. The Kaiser pulled into port as part of a two week joint State of Alaska and U.S. Northern Command sponsored homeland defense/defense support of civil authorities exercise called Alaska Shield/Northern Edge. The 677-foot vessel Kaiser is one of Military Sealift Command's fourteen Fleet Replenishment Oilers and is part of the 39 ships in the Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force.
