WG/CC answers dorm questions

  • Published
The following questions and answers are questions that Dorm Airmen asked the 3rd Wing commander during a recent Dorm Call:

Q. When will new dorm be completed?
A. It's set to be completed in January 2009.

Q. Why doesn't the shuttle bus go to places like the 703rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and other work places on the back side of base? Basically, why is it that only the folks on this side of the base have the shuttle bus at their disposal and folks that work on the back side of the base do not?
A. Per Air Force Instruction 24-301, paragraph 9.7.1.1 indicates that members are not to be shuttled from the dorms to their work locations. The last bus route was approved by the previous installation commander, who determines if other forms of transportation are not adequate.

Q. Can we drink in the dorm parking lot?
A. The new policy states that if you are 21 years or older, you may have alcohol in your vehicle in the dorm parking lot; however, this does not constitute going out to the parking lot and grabbing a drink and then going back into the dorm building. In the event that you do this and you are caught, you will be punished accordingly.

Q. Will the old dorm be demolished prior to the new dorm coming on line?
A. This will be a seamless process. The old dorm will be demolished as soon as the new dorm is completed.

Q. Why can't we have BAS (basic allowance for subsistence) when we have kitchens, when certain other squadrons receive BAS?
A. This impacts the dining facility and other organizations, such as 3rd Security Forces Squadron and the Fire Department. They receive it because of the shift work that is done by those particular units.

Q. Can my girlfriend stay over?
A. No. Overnight guests are not authorized per the unaccompanied housing guide.
