Tax Advisors need for 2008 season Published Nov. 17, 2008 ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- As the 2008 income tax season quickly approaches, Team Elmendorf is gearing up to provide first-rate tax assistance services for members of the Elmendorf AFB community. Federal and state tax return preparation assistance will be offered to Airmen and their families by Unit Tax Advisors (UTA) in each squadron and at the Tax Clinic located in the basement of the People Center. These services save Air Force members and their families the costs of paying a commercial agency to prepare their taxes. The 3rd Wing Legal Office is looking for volunteers to serve as UTAs. UTAs assist members of their own units by preparing income taxes. They are also required to serve four to six hours per week in the Tax Clinic. The Tax Clinic will be open for business from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday during the tax season. In preparation for their responsibilities, UTAs will receive five days of comprehensive tax training from Internal Revenue Service instructors. The training will take place each day from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Dec. 8-12. All UTAs must attend this training. "Becoming a UTA is a great way to serve members of our Air Force community as well as develop knowledge and expertise on personal finance and tax issues," said Capt. Jeffrey Coleman, 3rd Wing legal office. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. Joel Ketchum 552-1646.
