PACAF crown - 3rd WG named best weapon system maintenance Published Nov. 23, 2008 ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- The 3rd Wing is to receive the Pacific Air Forces' 2008 Clements McMullen Memorial Daedalian Weapon System Award. The selection identifies Elmendorf as having the best weapon system maintenance record of the nine bases in PACAF. "This award recognizes the men and women providing exceptional maintenance and munitions support to the Air Force," said Col. Thomas Bergeson, 3rd Wing commander. "This proves that our Airmen are a cut above the rest." During the year, the wing generated more than 7,300 sorties, totaling nearly 18,000 flying hours. The 3rd MXG currently maintains four aircraft with weapon systems - the Airborne Warning and Control System (E-3), C-17 Globemaster III, F-15C Eagle and the F-22A Raptor. "The group performed exceptionally well over this past year, and this award is a testament that 3rd Wing maintenance professionals are truly the best," said Col. Michael Arceneaux, 3rd MXG commander. Elmendorf earned this award in 2006 on its way to winning it at the Air Force level.
