The Elmendorf Fitness Center is seeking applicants for Intramural Racquetball teams for the 2009 season.

Applications must be turned in to the fitness center by Feb. 25.

"Intramural sports offer a great opportunity for people to compete with other athletes," said Staff Sgt. Tracy Harrell, intramural sports director. "It actively promotes physical fitness and camaraderie."

Teams must have four to eight members. Eligible team members can be active-duty, reserve or guard, Defense Department civilians, base-contract workers and family members 18 years or older. Members must participate within their assigned squadrons or be placed in the player's pool for acquisition.

Matches will be played in a tiebreaker format. The first two games will be played to 15 points. If one player doesn't win both games, the tiebreaker game will be played to 11 points.

In this handicapped league, players will be given a skill level for those less experienced. A level "B" performer begins with three points; a level "C" performer begins with six points; a level "D" performer begins with nine points.

Players can wear official Air Force PT gear, but it's not required.

First- and second-place winners will receive a trophy for squadron recognition.
