Airmen assigned to the 3rd Security Forces Squadron recently returned from a three-week trip where they took top honors.

The 13 Airmen with the unit's Squad 6 earned Top Squadron title for the Pacific Air Forces Regional Training Exercise .The exercise took place Jan. 17-Feb. 9 at Anderson Air Force Base, Guam.

"Squad 6 won because we were motivated," said Staff Sgt. Franz Deters, 3rd SFS team leader. They completed exercises wearing full combat gear. They cleared buildings, participated in improvised explosive device exercises, and other general combat skill training.

"There were a lot of bumps and bruises along the way," Deters said.

While Squad 6 stood out and won the honor of Top Squadron, there were also three distinguished individuals from within the squad. Staff Sgts. Jarod Cappon. and Devon Nodland, as well as Deters, were all recognized for their outstanding contributions during the exercise.
