Fire Prevention Week Published March 16, 2009 ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Fire Prevention Week takes place here March 23-30. The scheduled events are: March 23: All facility managers and unit safety representatives must a fire prevention safety briefing beginning at 9 a.m. at the base theater. The fire department staff will lead the briefing and instruct on how to properly inspect facilities for potential fire hazards (overloaded surge protectors, frayed wires, inoperative fire detectors, etc.). The facility managers and USRs must conduct a 100 percent inspection of all facilities within their areas by close of business on March 27. The data collected will be sent to the safety office for consolidation. The mass briefings at the base theater are: March 24: 8 a.m. for 3rd Mission Support Group March 24: 10 a.m. for 3rd Wing Staff Agencies, tenant units and 11th Air Force March 26: 1 p.m. for 3rd Medical Group March 30: Noon and 2 p.m. for 3rd Maintenance Group March 30: 4 p.m. for 3rd Operations Group The briefings include fire prevention techniques in the workplace, as well as the home. Representatives from the safety office, 3rd Civil Engineer Squadron and the fire department will lead the brief, which lasts about 50 minutes. March 25: A Town Hall Meeting on fire prevention begins at 7 p.m. at the base theater. The brief will cover the same items as briefed during the mass briefings. March 28: The fire department will set up an info booth at the Joint Military Mall. The booth will contain literature on fire prevention in the home.
