POTHOLE SEASON Published April 8, 2009 ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Alaska has had extreme temperature changes which lead to the "infamous pothole". Potholes are the biproduct of moisture freezing in pavement cracks and sub base. Roads and parking lots around base are most susceptible to these conditions in spring because of freeze thaw cycles. For base street and parking lot repairs follow the below listed steps and for base housing please contact the Aurora Housing help line at, 753-1051 or 753-1091. Assistance is available in just two easy steps: Step 1: Take note of where the pothole is located. (Street name, cross streets or building numbers.) Step 2: Call the 3rd Civil Engineering Squadron Snow Barn at 552-2994 or 552-2995. Weather and mission permitting they will have the pothole repaired within 24 hours of the phone call.
