Elmendorf preps for compliance validation inspection Published July 9, 2009 By Senior Airman David Carbajal 3rd Wing Public Affairs ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Elmendorf network users can expect computer delays during the upcoming weeks due to the preparation of the Enhanced Compliance Validation inspection July 27-31. This compliance validation is a Defense Information System Agency inspection that will ensure the base is following network security directives. DISA is a national agency charged with providing advanced information technology. "This inspection is the equivalent of an Operational Readiness Inspection for our base network," said Capt. Dustin Burleson, network control center officer in charge. The inspection team is focused on designing and implementing net-centric warfare. Leading up to the inspection, base users will see an increase in patching, updates and mandatory reboots of computers. Most of these are scheduled to happen after normal duty hours, but may roll over into duty day, the captain said. For more information, users can contact their respective client support administrators. "During the inspection, we don't foresee too many disruptions," said Burleson. However, he said inspectors, accompanied by unit CSAs, could approach users to run a manual scan of your system. "Elmendorf's COMM team will have a set number of days to correct any findings highlighted by the inspection," Burleson said. As a result, Elmendorf's users will continue to see network updates even after the inspection is concluded. "We have a great team of professionals whose daily job is to secure our network and ensure it functions efficiently."
