MSS, Services to merge into FSS Published July 8, 2009 ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- The 3rd Services Squadron and the 3rd Mission Support Squadron will merge during an official ceremony at 11 a.m. Oct. 23 at the Susitna Club. Lt. Col. Derek Contreras, current 3rd SVS commander, will become Elmendorf's first 3rd Force Support Squadron commander. "I am excited to be involved in this history changing event at Elmendorf AFB," said Lt. Col. Rita Snyder, 3rd MSS commander. "There is still much work to do ahead of us and everyone from both Services and Mission Support have been diligently working together to make this merge a success." The concept of the FSS is to combine all agencies that provide mission-support services into one squadron. The new squadron will contain five flights: warfighter and family services flight, community services flight, manpower and personnel flight, sustainment services flight and force development flight. Our goal is to do it as seamless as possible and provide our customers the same quality service they had before, said Snyder. This squadron will be one of the largest squadrons at Elmendorf and will continue to strive to have 100 percent customer satisfaction.
