Arctic Warrior of the Week

Airman 1st Class Makayla Incontro
Arctic Warrior of the Week

Organization and duty title: 525th Fighter Squadron aviation resource management

Hometown: Kimmswick, Mo.

Hobbies: I love to be outside when the weather is warm, read, and cook

Mission contribution: I help ensure that all of the 525th FS pilots and the reservists who fly with us are current on training items that would prevent them from flying so that they can fly and protect our borders. I also make sure their training and flying time is input accurately.

Best part of your job: There are so many "best parts": the people and personalities I get to work with, all of my superiors in and out of my squadron to include 1C0s all over the base. I'm in a pretty busy type of squadron, I get to talk to the pilots while they are in the air (I think that is pretty cool!), the attention to detail that keeps me busy, and of course I work with the famous Fado (our bulldog).

How long have you been at Elmendorf: One year, three months

Time in service: One year, seven months

Best part about being in Alaska: Let me just say that the worst thing about Alaska is the negative temperatures. Everything else about this place is fun and of course "an outdoors man's (or woman's) paradise"!

Best Air Force memory: So far my best Air Force memory was finding out that I was going down to Nellis AFB to replace someone who had been down that way for a while. It was my first TDY experience and I loved it! Also for us younger Airmen, it is true that you can have a good time in Vegas without drinking or gambling because I am not of age and it was awesome!!!

Quote from supervisor: "Airman Makayla Incontro has become my go-to Airman. She can be trusted to run the entire 525th Fighter Squadron Operations Desk without any supervision. She has earned her chance to be recognized as the Arctic Warrior of the Week." Staff Sgt. Kelly Caruso
