The Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Partnership Council, consisting of leaders from 3rd Wing, Fort Richardson garrison and 673 Air Base Wing, will host four town hall meetings to discuss civilian employee issues. Two sessions will be at the Fort Richardson theater on Oct. 21 and two sessions at the Elmendorf Air Force Base theater on Oct. 22.

The town hall meetings will run from 8:00-10:00 a.m. and noon to 2:00 p.m. on both days. All members of the Fort Richardson and Elmendorf communities are invited to attend any of the four sessions.

All sessions will include the same briefings. Subject matter experts will be on hand to answer questions. While civilian employee issues are the focus of these town hall meetings, any and all questions related to JBER are welcome.

The town hall presentations will cover the overarching JBER plan and what employees can expect in the coming months. A representative from the Air Force Personnel Center will also be in attendance to provide expertise on Air Force Civilian employee programs. These sessions will provide a basis for understanding the changes we anticipate seeing in the coming months.

The JBER team would like to have your questions in advance, so we can make sure we have the information you need. Submit any questions for the Town Halls or any other JBER subject by contacting the JBER team at 384-JBER, jber.qa@elmendorf.af.mil or jber.qa@richardson.army.mil.
Here are samples of some of our previous questions and the answers we have been able to provide as a result.

1. What bases are affected by Joint Basing?

NAVY LEAD:
Naval Station Pearl Harbor and Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii;
Navy Base Guam and Andersen Air Base, Guam;
Anacostia Naval Station and Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C.;
Naval Station Norfolk and Fort Story, Va.

ARMY LEAD:
Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base, Washington;
Fort Myer and Henderson Hall (USMC), Va.

AIR FORCE LEAD:
Charleston Air Force Base and Charleston Naval Weapons Station, S.C.;
Andrews Air Force Base and Naval Air Facility Washington in Maryland;
Elmendorf Air Force Base and Fort Richardson, Alaska;
Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base and Fort Sam Houston, Texas;
Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis, Va.;
McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix and Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, N.J.

2. Can we still get car decals if we often travel to Fort Wainwright?
A) Yes, decals will be provided on request at any base registration point.

3. Wouldn't it be safer to continue registering our cars to come on post?
A) Not really. The main thing we check now is the common access card. The decal is secondary now. Plus, when you're downtown or anywhere off post, that car decal identifies you to potential terrorists.

4. Will the Seward Recreation Center become an Air Force asset?
A) No. The Seward Rec Center will remain with the Army operated out of Fort Wainwright. All Army and Air Force members (military and civilian) will continue to have access to the facility.
