H1N1 vaccine information update

  • Published
Alaska has received its initial shipment of H1N1 vaccine. It was a small portion of the total vaccine that was projected to arrive in Alaska over the next several weeks. Alaska provided Elmendorf with all of the doses that will be designated for non-active-duty tricare beneficiaries.

Elmendorf also received the first shipment of state-supplied vaccines this week. This vaccine is designated for children 2-4, who are considered a high-risk group. The vaccine will be offered at the child development center on Elmendorf and Fort Richardson as well as the pediatrics clinic at the 3rd Medical Group.

Parents will be required to sign a consent form before their children can be vaccinated. Forms will be available at the CDC.

Due to shipments of vaccine in small amounts, availability may be limited. More shipments are expected to arrive on a weekly basis and its availability will be advertised as it is received.

The Department of Defense will be providing all H1N1 vaccine for active-duty members. Although no official date of arrivals has been given for Elmendorf's vaccine, initial shipments are expected within 1-2 weeks.
