The Annual Military Appreciation Bowl-A-Thon took place Feb. 6.

For the 10th year the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce sponsored the Bowl-A-Thon, where more than $20,000 was raised at the event.

"Every year they come and just fill up the place," said Chris Clappers, Center Bowl manager. "They're just great people and all the money raised goes to the military picnics they hold on base."

The money raised at the Bowl-A-Thon goes towards the Military Appreciation Picnics, which are held annually on Fort Richardson and Elmendorf Air Force Base.

During the Bowl-A-Thon sponsors purchase lanes, which are then donated to approximately 100 servicemembers from all branches to bowl.

"Every year they raise money for us, and let us come here and have a good time," said Staff Sgt. Andrew McIntosh, 3rd Civil Engineer Squadron. "We can't say thank you enough."

This year's picnic is scheduled for June 11.
