Airmen treated at Spring Break up Party Published June 2, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Jack Sanders 3rd Wing Public Affairs ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Elmendorf's Annual Spring-Break-Up Party took place May 21. The SBUP is held every year as a fund raiser to help pay for base functions. The primary fund raiser was a cash prize drawing. Tickets for the drawing were sold at a $100 a piece and all the proceeds, minus the prize money, went to fund base activities. "A hundred percent of the money that is generated, goes back in the form of promotion parties and other functions and all the money goes to the base and the community where it's needed," said Master Sgt. Susan Andersen, Elmendorf's top three president. Base personnel were invited to come enjoy the company of their fellow Airmen and families and enjoy the free food, music and entertainment. The event also served as an excellent recruiting tool. "The Air Force Association is here trying to recruit more personnel to be a part of the association and increase the organizations numbers," said Master Sgt. Francisca Gutierrez, Air Force Association president. "We have a lot of activities for everyone to enjoy." The AFA provided activities were bouncy castles, face painting and hula-hooping. Some of the featured events included the Air Force Band of the Pacific and a k-9 demonstration by the 3rd Security Forces Squadron. The party also celebrates all of the work that went into cleaning up the base. "I'd like to thank everyone who had a part in the party," said Sergeant Andersen. "It was an excellent evening."
