Anchorage begins Combined Federal Campaign Published Sept. 17, 2010 By Spc. Tamika Dillard 3rd MEB PAO JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- The city of Anchorage officially kicked off its Combined Federal Campaign Sept. 1, downtown, with support from Soldiers with the 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. "The Combined Federal Campaign is an incredible effort by federal employees to give back to their communities," said Jennifer Wukasch, Alaska CFC director. The Combined Federal Campaign allows service members and civilian employees to pick from more than 2,000 organizations to donate money. U.S. Army Alaska's CFC is from Oct. 4 to Nov. 12. "I ensure that I contribute to the CFC every year," said Army Maj. Robert Prochnow, officer-in-charge, 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade S-1. "I have friends and family members that benefit from different charities as American Cancer Society and Guide Dog Association," Prochnow said. These are the charities that he says affected him during his childhood. Each agency that qualifies for CFC must meet strict eligibility requirements. Those who donate to these agencies may direct their contribution to one or more of the eligible national or international charities or any of the local agencies within the community. The choice is up to the participant. "The goal set for Alaska this year is $1.85 million," Wukasch said. "We are promoting the online pledge system at www.alaskacfc.org by recruiting more federal agencies to participate. Alaska CFC staff is also visiting Juneau this year for the first time to meet the federal agencies in that area, including a visit with the Coast Guard D-17." Fort Richardson raised 8.5 percent, $133,554 of the $1.557 million raised in 2008, according to Wukasch. In 2009, the post raised 6.6 percent, $111,651 of the $1.681 million raised. Alaska surpassed its goal by 5 percent during the 2009 campaign. Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Human resources officer 2nd Lt. Breanne McClellan, brigade CFC coordinator, is scheduled to visit different work centers throughout the brigade later next month to provide Soldiers the assistance in filling out forms and with donations.
