JBER clean-up guidance

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska --  Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson spring clean-up dates are May 2-8.

Every unit and organization on JBER has their own specific area of ground maintenance they are responsible for and will have to coordinate.

The dates for main base clean-up, not including housing areas are May 2-6.

Units and organization points of contact will be provided orange bags which are required to identify trash from cleanup details and allow for free dumping.

The bags are for general refuse only and therefore people should not use them for hazardous materials such as paint, tires, and oil containers.

For those units who have unique or large items which will not fit into the bags, contact the 773d Civil Engineer Squadron Heavy Equipment Section at 552-2994 to pre-coordinate a pick-up time.

Remember scrap wood, metal, and cardboard can be dropped off at the JBER Recycling Center at 6254 Gibson Ave. Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Open HAZMAT turn in at building 4314 Kenny Ave. Monday through Friday and their hours are 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-4:30 p.m. Provide material safety data sheets if possible.

Units will be required to dispose of their own trash at the city landfill, loads will not exceed the size of a standard pick-up bed and must be secured and covered to prevent spillage in transit and must not exceed 1,000 pounds.

Unsecured loads or improperly covered loads will be subject to a fine before being allowed to dump.

Aurora Housing clean up is scheduled on May 2-8 and dumpster locations at the below locations from April 29-May 8.

Cherry Hill: At entrance to the open field (near Building 7032); New Houston/Sunflower: At the end of Bullard Avenue (near Building 4079); Sunflower/Dallas: At the end of Dallas near snow dump area; Silver Run: Near the old Aurora warehouse and ball field; Chugach: Near the end of Wilkins Avenue (On the right side of road); Moose Crossing: Near the pump house on Bengal Way.
