Items recovered from the C-124 recovery site included survival equipment, desalinization kits, Morse code card, and a fishing kit with instructions. Artifacts like these and many others items were displayed for Tonja Anderson during her visit to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Sept. 28, 2012, to learn about the 1952 crash that claimed the life of her grandfather and 51 other passengers. The aircraft wreckage was recently discovered on Colony Glacier, 14 miles south of the original crash site on Mt. Gannett. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Mikal Canfield)
