MILPDS Downtime may affect your pay Published Feb. 14, 2013 By Air Force Master Sgt. Shavonne Taylor 673d Force Support Squadron JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- The Air Force is upgrading and transferring the Military Data System to the Defense Information Systems Agency's Defense Enterprise Computing Center in March 2013. The upgrade is expected to take approximately 23 days to complete. During this time, March 4 through 27, MILPDS will not be available. Several essential personnel and pay systems, education and training systems, and transactional applications will be impacted during the downtime as they rely on data in MILPDS. As a result of this system upgrade, officer and enlisted Airmen promoting in March will experience pay delay. Airmen are authorized to sew on new rank on their respective promotion dates, pending commander approval. However, they will not receive the increase in pay until their promotion is updated in MILPDS and processed by the DFAS, following the system upgrade. Active-duty Airmen eligible to reenlist, extend their current enlistment, retire or separate in March, were encouraged to complete these personnel actions by Friday. Airmen can still accomplish these voluntary actions now, but they may experience additional delays processing transactions to DFAS, particularly if their date of separation falls during the MILPDS upgrade period. The Military Personnel Section is prepared for this downtime and will be tracking all updates that need to be accomplished when MILPDS comes back online. We ask for your patience and understanding during this transition.
