The 673d Force Support Squadron hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Human Resources Applicant Assistance Office Oct. 28, at the JBER-Richardson Visitor Center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

The space functions as a satellite for the existing NAF office on the installation.

NAF employment is considered federal employment, but is funded by the programs staffed by NAF employees.

The 673d Force Support Squadron leadership attended the event and spoke on their excitement for the project.

“We’re excited about this opportunity to open our doors to get teammates for our squadron,” said Lt. Col. Diamond Cookson, 673d Force Support Squadron commander. “This project will support our partnerships by helping the entire community.”

The new office will allow those without base access to have personal assistance going through the NAF employment application process.

“We hope to reach the off-base community and help them in their efforts to get employment on the installation,” said Sara Dunham, NAF Human Resources Assistant Director. “Our primary goal, as always, is to fill the empty positions around base with quality candidates.”

NAF personnel will assist prospective applicants with navigating to the hiring site, creating their applicant account, scanning and uploading documents, and searching for NAF jobs on JBER.

The new office will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and will be closed on federal holidays and Pacific Air Forces family days.

JBER’s NAF personnel said they expect the office will be used a lot in the coming months.

“We anticipate having a steady flow of interested applicants utilizing the office,” Dunham said. “We would like to extend our services to as many people as possible and this is one more avenue for us to do so.”

The Army, Navy and Coast Guard post NAF jobs on the USAJOBS.gov site.

Currently, Air Force NAF jobs can be found on NAFJOBS.org under the “open positions” header, but in December they plan to move to USAJOBS.org as well.
