Unit: 3 AMXS / 90 AMU
Job Description: F-22 Dedicated Crew Chief
Time in service: 5 years 11 months
Previous Assignments: Tyndall AFB
Accomplishments:
SSgt Rogers has set himself above his peers as an F‐22 Dedicated Crew Chief. He was hand‐selected to lead TAMS section during deployment to Nellis AFB. Sgt Rogers responded to an in‐flight emergency where he recovered the aircraft and cleared the runway in under 10 minutes allowing 14 other aircraft to land safely.
Upon aircraft returning home they had to divert to Fairchild AFB where he led the maintenance recovery team. With limited personnel and equipment, he replaced the retract actuator hose which resolved the landing gear malfunction. His actions ensured $858 million of Air Force assets returned to base safely.
Furthermore, Sgt Rogers displayed attention to detail during Exercise POLAR FORCE. He managed 14 personnel which completed over 200 maintenance tasks and 37 inspections generating 4 aircraft. His leadership bolstered the largest F‐22 generation in history, launching 24 aircraft, and proving 3rd Wing capabilities. Sgt Rogers' system knowledge was proven when he diagnosed an accessory drive system fail.
Research through aircraft theory and historical FSR data he replaced an AMAD temperature sensor in under 4 hours. His expert troubleshooting seized 518 flight hours, 479 sorties and 82% 8‐hour fix rate beating the 63% PACAF standard in May 2019. Sgt Rogers' constant expansion of system knowledge and leadership traits has made him a mentor to everyone around him.
