JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- The 673d Medical Operations Squadron physical therapists are now offering physical therapy sessions to the 90th Fighter Squadron pilots in an effort to provide more timely and efficient care.
“Bringing the physical therapists to the squadron provides a more effective way for pilots to get the care they need,” said Air Force Capt. Justin Gleed, 673d Medical Operations Squadron physical therapist. “It gives time back to the pilots who might not have had the ability to be seen otherwise.”
According to the American Physical Therapy Association, physical therapy is a form of treatment used by professionals to improve movement, relieve pain, and restore physical function and fitness levels.
Pilots with the 90th FS have the option to participate in weekly physical therapy sessions at the squadron for two hours each time. The sessions include muscle and joint pain treatment, exercise tools, and evaluations.
“Providing physical therapy to the pilots is a better and faster way for them to get back to the frontlines to complete the mission,” Gleed said.
The 525th Fighter Squadron pilots also now have the option to participate in the physical therapy sessions. The sessions alternate weekly between the 90th and 525th FS.
The physical therapy sessions will also open to include 90th and 525th FS maintainers.
Physical therapy will be available for the pilots and maintainers as a method to enhance their health and quality of life, relieve pain, and improve mobility while ensuring the effectiveness of the mission.
