JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- In honor of the upcoming 70th birthday of the U.S. Air Force, USO Alaska is hosting United States Air Force “Spouses Rock,” a USO military appreciation luncheon Sept. 21 at the Hard Rock Café in Anchorage.
Spouses Rock is open to all active duty Air Force spouses; dependent ID is required at check-in and must match the name used to register.
“The deadline to RSVP is midnight Alaska time, Sept. 17,” said Tara Mogan, USO Alaska senior director. “To register or for additional information about this event visit the website https://usafspousesrock.eventbrite.com. This helps give us an accurate headcount and catering order. People can show up without registering, but they are going to have to wait until everyone who has registered shows up. We will do our best to accommodate them, there’s just no guarantee.”
The event includes free food, entertainment, a photo contest, prizes and more. Doors open at 11:45 a.m.; the event runs from noon through 2 p.m.
“Air Force spouses are known as the ultimate wingmen,” Mogan said. “We want them to have an opportunity to just sit back, relax and have some fun. We also will have a fun photo booth with props set up for a make-the-best photo contest with three categories; rock this country, hair band and Hollywood rock star.”
Spouses attending the luncheon will also hear from guest speaker Dan Clark, a motivational speaker and live acoustic music by Ken Peltier.
Free parking is available in the covered parking garage at E Street and 6th Avenue or the lot at B Street and 5th Avenue. Although the first hour is free, organizers ask participants to bring their tickets with them to validate for up to two additional hours. Other parking locations will not be validated.
Children are not permitted at the event; the dress code is best casual attire.
