JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- The base exchange is partnering with the Air Force Aid Society and the Army Emergency Relief program to collect donations supporting military members and their families from June 14 to 18 and from Sept. 14 to 18 during the Army and Air Force birthday celebrations.
Both AER and the AFAS have been around for 75 years, helping service members and their families.
“This is the first time AER and [Army & Air Force Exchange Service] have teamed up,” said William Neff, Army Emergency Relief officer. “I feel this is a great partnership of two helping agencies to be able to help even more service members.”
The Army birthday last week was the kick-off of the initial four-day event; customers can donate upon check out to either AER or the AFAS.
Members who donate will receive a coupon for $5 off on a $25 or more purchase, redeemable in store or online through June 25; the Air Force birthday event will issue coupons for Sept. 19 through 25.
“The AFAS program is to support military families in time of needs,” said Michael Baty, Air Force Aid Society Officer. “To have the base exchange supporting AFAS is a great opportunity for members to give and get back.”
