Searching for and requesting child care just got a whole lot easier here at JBER thanks to MilitaryChildCare.com. The days of going into a Child Development Center to sign up are long gone.

MCC is a Department of Defense program that makes it easier to find child and youth care. With it, parents can find comprehensive information on child-care programs worldwide, conduct a customized search for the care they need, and submit a request for care at any time and from any location.

“All branches of the military and DoD civilians are able to use the website; it’s a one-stop shop for parents to request child care,” said Loretta Morgan, child and youth outreach program manager. “If you’re moving from one installation to another, you can go to the website beforehand and look at everything available at your new installation and put in a request for care.”

After creating an account on the website, users can search and request specific care needs. Once the space becomes available, the program will contact the requester.

“Say you want to sign up for school-age care in the fall,” Morgan said. “On the MCC website, search for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, put in the age of your child and it will tell you what programs serve that age group. You can create an account and initiate a request for care.”

The mission is to assist military and DoD civilian personnel in balancing busy lifestyles. The objective of the centers here on base is to facilitate and enhance each child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. It is their goal to promote children’s self-esteem and instill in them the desire to reach their full potential, according to the MCC website.
