JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- The 5th Annual Federal Worker Bike Challenge hits the ground rolling May 1 to 31, and is open for all Department of Defense members to take part in.
The challenge is to give up driving as much as possible and commute to work, or just around town, on a bicycle for the entire month of May.
“It’s a great opportunity to get out and do something healthy,” said Matthew Mills, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson bike challenge team leader.
This is a free and friendly competition that encourages DoD colleagues to experience the benefits of riding a bike. The challenge is nationwide and allows all participants to form teams and join existing ones.
Teams receive points for miles and days that their members ride a bike. To encourage teams to recruit new members, new riders are awarded the most points.
