JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- -- The Arctic Warrior Chief’s Group is looking for junior and senior noncommissioned officers and company-grade officers to attend their monthly mentorship lunches.
Each month, the chiefs change their focus from junior NCOs to senior, as well as CGOs, and provide members with advice to help broaden their careers in an open discussion environment.
“The mentorship lunch provides members with an opportunity to meet with the chiefs in a small-group setting where they can learn anything from career progression to Air Force hot-topic issues,” said Chief Master Sgt. Daniel Lauseng, 381st Intelligence Squadron’s Mission Operations Center superintendent. “It’s an interactive discussion in an informal setting, typically with five to six people, which allows you to ask questions and get a another perspective from someone else.”
Attendees are encouraged to speak freely on any issues they may be facing in the workplace or at home where they might not be as comfortable bringing up topics.
“It was great to have an open discussion with the other attendees,” said Air Force Master Sgt. Lee Pentimone, section chief, Cyber Services. “For me being a senior NCO it worked out nicely, because we had two chiefs, a few Airmen, and a CGO at our table. We were able to give each other advice from very different viewpoints.”
These lunches are also a great place to talk about career progression. Getting the combined knowledge of the chiefs and others in attendance is a rare and invaluable opportunity.
“If you get the chance, go; it’s highly beneficial,” added Pentimone.
Members who are interested in attending a mentorship lunch should inform their leadership to see when the next opportunity is available.
