N13122 Grumman G-44 Widgeon S/N 1312

The Grumman G-44 Widgeon was designed and built as a smaller, less expensive version of the Grumman Goose. It first flew in June 1940.

N13122 was manufactured in May 1943. The aircraft was registered in Canada until 1967 and the log books before that are missing.

N13122 was previously assigned to the "N" numbers: N106M, N69T, N89T and CF-KKF. The Navy serial number was 32958; the current serial number, 1312, was the Navy construction number.

In March 1967, N13122 was sold to McKinnon Enterprise of Sandy, Ore., and converted to a Super Widgeon. A Super Widgeon has larger engines and three blade props.

In July 1969, it was sold to James McGoffin, the owner of Interior Airways. This was his personal aircraft.

N13122 was donated to the Alaska Aviation Museum in October 2001. It has two Lycoming GO-480, horizontal opposed engines with Hartzell 3 blade propellers installed. It originally had two Ranger inverted inline engines.

The Widgeon is a very popular aircraft. There are 118 Widgeons registered with the Federal Aviation Administration, 26 of which are in Alaska.
