Major General Brian Eifler

Major Gen. Brian Eifler assumed command of United States Army Alaska on 21 July 2021, and assumed command of 11th Airborne Division on 6 June 2022. He previously served as Army Chief Legislative Liaison, Deputy Commanding General of the 10th Mountain Division (light), and the Director, CJ3 for Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq.

A native of Michigan, MG Eifler graduated and received his commission as an Infantry Officer from Central Michigan University. While at Central Michigan, he also graduated from Airborne and Ranger school.

He has served in command and leadership positions in: the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Michigan National Guard, the 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, III Corps, 4th Infantry Division, 1st Armored Division, 75th Ranger Regiment Special Troops Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, 10th Mountain Division and HQDA staff. MG Eifler Commanded the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry in Germany, the 75th Ranger Regiment Special Troops Battalion at Fort Benning, and the 3rd Brigade Combat Team 25th Infantry Division in Schofield Barracks, HI.

His operational deployments include OPERATION UPHOLD DEMOCRACY, Haiti; OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq; OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan; OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, Iraq.

MG Eifler’s education includes Bachelors Degree in Interpersonal and Public Communication from Central Michigan University and a Masters in Strategic Studies from United States Army War College. He is also a graduate of the MIT Seminar XXI National Securities Studies Program.

MG Eifler's awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, four Legions of Merit, three Bronze Star Medals, seven Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medal for Valor, four Army Commendations, three Army Achievement Medals, Humanitarian Assistance Medal, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He is authorized to wear the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Ranger Tab, and the Army Staff Identification Badge. He is also a top-ten finisher at the Army’s Best Ranger Competition.
